Combating Fear | דניאל קלוגהפט | אתה מסוגל

Fear is a normal part of life, whether it is fear of failure, fear of success or even fear of fear. All of us have experienced fear at some point in our lives, but sometimes it holds us back from achieving our potentional.

There are several ways to overcome fear, here are my top 10:

1. Truth or Fiction?

Ask yourself what is really going on, what are the facts and what are your feelings?

2. Trigger Happy

What's triggering your fear or anxiety? Once you identify it, combating it becomes a lot easier.

3. Where in you is the fear?

Fear affects different people different ways. Identify how it affects your physical body and work on that area: If you feel stress in your back, do some yoga stretches. If you feel it in your face, take a few deep breaths, ar wash your face with cold water.

4. Gratitude Mode

Everyday, list out a number of things you are thankful for. It doesn’t matter how big or small it is, gratitude helps shift the mind into a positive light.

5. Listen to Yourself

What messages are you saying to yourself? Speak positively to yourself and remind yourself of your strengths.

6. See Beyond the Horizon

IT WILL PASS! Focus on the positive outcome of the situation, believe that everything will be fine, you've been there before and you got through it. This time will be the same.

7. Look at the half full glass

Perception is a very powerful thing, and how you feel about your situation dictates how you respond. So think positively and you’ll give yourself a much better chance of success. Is there a recurring negative/fearful thought you have? Work on reversing this one thought. Overtime, this will become a habit.

8. BREATHE!

Breathing helps center your body; Even taking 5 deep, long breaths at any point can calm and center yourself. It is best to start your day with this, but feel free to practice all day long.

9. Virtual Reality

When you feel safe and secure, there is no room for fear. Find somewhere safe you can retreat to when ill feelings begin- whether this is a real place such as your bedroom, or a place in your mind, such as the beach. This sense of comfort will soothe you and allow you to better face your fear.


10. Prayer Power

Prayer shows it may have similar benefits to meditation: It can calm your nervous system, shutting down your fight or flight response. It can make you less reactive to negative emotions and less angry


Please keep in mind, these are just 10 strategies, not everything works for everyone. But this is a place to start. Start implementing these techniques into your life and don’t let fear hold you back from reaching your goals and your highest potential this year!
